| Burnettsville Fun Fact |
| In the early days of education in our country, schools that were established especially to train and educate teachers were called Normal schools. In 1858, Joseph Baldwin founded the Indiana Normal. His school was located in the Academy building in southwest Burnettsville. This was the first teacher’s training school established in Indiana, preceeding both Ball State and Indiana State Universities. Normal schools were conducted at Burnettsville until 1886 providing many of the teachers for Cass, Carroll and White counties |
